2022 NAFWS Annual National Conference

May 9-12, 2022 in Miami, FL

The 2022 NAFWS Annual National Conference will be held May 9-12, 2022 hosted by the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida  at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, FL.

Virtual Option

This year’s conference will be a hybrid event with the option to attend limited conference events virtually. There are separate registration fees for virtual attendance. Virtual attendees must register by May 5th to receive a link via email prior to the conference date. If you do not receive a link (check your spam folder).

Registration Instructions

Up to date Individual Members and Member Tribe employees are eligible for discounted registration fees. You must login to receive a discount. If you have a membership but have never logged on to the site, select reset password to access your account. You will be able to access additional membership benefits through the account. Presenters must register. Contact Heidi McCann (hmccann@nafws.org) for assistance setting up an account. 

Register before April 8th to receive an early bird discount. If purchasing multiple tickets, please fill out attendee details for each ticket purchased. For accommodations and dietary restrictions, submit requests in the Additional Information field.

Room Reservations & Travel Recommendations

The 2022 National Conference will be held at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, FL. Make reservations by calling 305-925-2555 / Toll free 1-877-242-6464 or email reservations@miccosukee.com and say  you are attending the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society Conference. 

Due to higher weekend prices, we recommend flying into Miami on Monday morning. Workshops will begin Monday afternoon.

According to Resort Policy: Guests must be 18 or older to enter the resort. Masks are optional for vaccinated patrons and masks are mandatory for unvaccinated patrons.

Call for Abstracts and Student Posters – Deadline Extended

Submit abstracts for oral presentations and student posters by April 1, 2022. A limited number of virtual presentation spaces are available.

Call for National Award Nominations – Deadline Extended

Every year NAFWS presents Chief SealthBiologist of the Year, and Conservation Officer of the Year awards to recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions to Tribal conservation. Submit nominations by April 1, 2022 at 10PM MT.

Memorial Submissions

Submit requests for Tribal fish & wildlife professionals lost in 2021 to be included in our Memorial presented at the National Conference.

Live and Silent Auction Donations

Each year, NAFWS hosts Live and Silent Auctions at the National Conference to raise money for student scholarships. Please consider bringing an item for the auction. If you will not be attending in person, contact Heidi McCann (hmccann@nafws.org) about mailing items.

Travel Assistance & Scholarship

This year we have several avenues available for travel assistance for presenters, Southwest Region members, and student presenters. Contact Ashley Carlisle at acarlisle@nafws.org for more information.

Presenter Travel Assistance: We have limited travel funding available for presenters with a priority given to BIA Fish, Wildlife & Recreation funded projects. To apply for (non-student) travel assistance complete the abstract submission form and select “Yes” for travel assistance. Abstracts are due April 1st, 2022 at 10 PM MT.

Southwest Region Climate Travel Assistance: Southwest Region Climate Travel Assistance is available to Southwest Region members and employees of  Member Tribes who attend the climate change workshop and other climate-related events. Presenting at the conference is not required. Applications are due April 8th, 2022 at 10PM MT.

Student Conference  Travel Scholarship: Student Conference Travel Scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students, who submit abstracts and present a research poster at the National Conference. Applications are due March 18th, 2022 at 10 PM MT.
