Summer Youth Practicum

The Summer Youth Practicum (SYP) is designed to provide Native American students (incoming 10th – 12th grade) an opportunity to gain hands-on and in-lecture experience in the interdisciplinary components of natural resource management and Indigenous knowledge. 

National SYP

Planned and implemented by our national office. This week long program is in the beautiful and mountainous area of the Northern Front Range in Colorado. Students from the continental U.S. are encouraged to apply.

Regional SYP

Each regional SYP is planned and implemented by specific NAFWS regions. These programs are located in various locations and depend on the region. Regional SYPs are open to students that are residents of the specific region.

My favorite part was the ropes course, definitely ignited a growing passion for rock climbing I didn’t know I had !! I definitely loved and enjoyed ALL of it. But, I enjoyed the personal slides/presentation that the interns/coordinators did.

My favorite activity is the hiking part because at the end of it i felt nice and another of my favorite is the elecrofishing part. My favorite presentation is the one with the wolfs.
