About the event
Co-hosted by:
Native American Fish and Wildlife Society, USGS, and United Tribes Technical College
Join NAFWS and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for a four-day, hands-on ArcGIS training designed to build practical skills for Tribal natural resource professionals.
Days 1–2: ArcGIS Foundations (Led by USGS)
The first two days provide a comprehensive introduction to ArcGIS for participants with little to no prior experience. USGS instructors will guide attendees through the fundamentals of the software, ensuring participants build a strong foundation in spatial data, mapping tools, and basic workflows.
Days 3–4: Applied Workflows for Vegetation & Wildlife Monitoring (Led by NAFWS)
The final two days emphasize applied GIS workflows tailored to Tribal resource management. Instructors from the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society (NAFWS) will guide participants through tools and techniques for analyzing wildlife movement and monitoring habitat conditions. These applications are designed to support professionals working in native wildlife management, habitat conservation, and invasive species control. Participants will leave with an expanded GIS toolkit to better inform on-the-ground decision-making.
Participants may attend the full four-day training or register for Days 3–4 only if they already have prior ArcGIS experience and wish to focus on applied tools.
