Native Women in Natural Resources & Agriculture Symposium (NWANRS)

The NWANRS started with the acknowledgement that there is a need for a space and time for Native Women in the fields of agriculture and natural resources to network, grow, support, teach and learn from one another. The first NWANRS was in March 2023 and continues to grow and improve.
The goal of the NWANRS is to:
-
Bring Native women from across Indian country that are doing work in the natural resources and agriculture sectors together
-
Discuss professional development topics such as lateral kindness, work-life balance, working through community/cultural kickback, financial wellness, mentorship, communication, leadership
-
Include a session specifically to equip attendees with knowledge and practice of self-defense, situational awareness and safety
-
Establish techniques, tools and resources related to enhancing professional development skills,
-
Provide opportunity for genuine networking/relationship connections
We believe covering such topics can help provide American Indian/Alaskan Native women the tools and support system to aid in their career journeys, build community and sustain representation within the fields.
The lead organizers for this event are the Carlisle sisters -
