Hello, my name is Gage Betts and I am from Flagstaff, Arizona. It has been my lifelong dream to become a fisheries biologist. I love to fish, and it is something I will never stop doing. I love the challenge of exploring new waters because you just don’t know what will happen. Over the years and as I grew older not only did my passion for fishing grow but so did my mind. I became fascinated with fish from their colors to the certain patterns and behaviors they follow, and it always poses the same question. That question is why? That very question is why I am here today expanding my education and getting my major in biology. I want to say thank you for this opportunity and choosing me as a recipient of the NAFWS scholarship and helping me inch closer to my dreams.
